Following on from a very successful 2014 Banger Rally, St Austell and District Round Table have organised this year’s 2015 Charity Banger Rally Challenge from Cornwall to Salo.
Teams are raising money for six main charities ‘Cornwall Hospice Care’ (Mount Edgcumbe Hospice), ‘Turn to Starboard’, ‘Marie Curie’, ‘Cornwall Air Ambulance’, ‘Merlin Project’ and ‘Children’s Hospice Southwest’.
The rally is starting this evening, Thursday 1st October leaving The Cornwall Hotel at 6.30pm and finishing in ‘Salo’ on Monday 5th October.
We have sponsored Jonathan Pearn of Lower Town Farm, Landrake and Simon Morris of Tartendown Nurseries, Landrake to drive their 3 Series BMW to Italy via seven countries in five days.
Jonathan will be keeping us up to date with their challenge, so come back to following their progress.
They’ve made it to the Le Mans Museum…
And have even completed two laps at the great Monza track…
Driving through Stelvio Pass, Austria – although hopefully not when this photo was taken!
The Stelvio Pass – apparently it’s not the most beautiful (according to Ultimate Drives website), but certainly one of the highest (official the third highest in the Alps at 2757M) and most dramatic mountain passes to drive in the European Alps.
You will have to ask Jonathan and Simon what they thought of it on their return.
The boys have popped into the KTM Factory in Austria
And finally, the last day of Banger Rally Challenge 2015 and 2889 miles later, Team Blunder Birds have reached the Normandy Beaches.
As we entered Austria we remembered we forgot to pack snow chains… whoops!
