Important update: Smithaleigh branch to close on 30 September 2026
Earlier this year, we shared plans for our new purpose-built Cullompton branch, opening in Spring 2027 and bringing our Smithaleigh and Wellington teams together under one roof as part of a major long-term investment in the future of Vincents.
We’re pleased to report that construction is now underway and the project remains on track. As we move towards the next phase of the transition, we would like to update customers on changes to our South Devon operations.
When we announced our plans earlier this year, we explained that Smithaleigh and Wellington would remain open during the transition period before moving into our new Devon home. While the opening of Cullompton remains on track for Spring 2027, following a review of our operational requirements and customer support arrangements, the Smithaleigh depot will now close to customers on 30 September 2026.
While this means Smithaleigh will close earlier than originally anticipated, it will allow us to maintain the highest levels of service for customers across the South West as we continue progressing towards the opening of Cullompton.
Most importantly, we want to reassure all customers that there will be no interruption to the support and service they receive from Vincents.
All Smithaleigh service enquiries and support requests will now be managed through our Holsworthy branch, helping to ensure a smooth transition. The Smithaleigh parts counter will remain open until 30 September 2026, and we are also finalising plans for a convenient parts collection and drop-off point near Ivybridge, with further details to be shared soon. In addition, our customers in South Devon can also be assured that for any onsite service work engineer travel and mileage will only be charged from the Smithaleigh postcode
As previously announced, our Wellington branch will remain open until the new Cullompton branch opens in Spring 2027. Alongside this, our mobile engineers, field-based sales teams and overnight parts delivery service will continue supporting customers across South Devon, ensuring the trusted service and responsiveness our customers expect remains unchanged.
We know many customers have built strong relationships with the Smithaleigh team over the years and we would like to thank both our Smithaleigh colleagues and our loyal customers for their support, trust and commitment. The branch has played an important role in our growth across Devon, and we remain fully committed to supporting colleagues and customers throughout this transition and beyond.
Cullompton represents an exciting next chapter for Vincents and a significant investment in the future of our business. Together with our Fraddon and Holsworthy teams, it will help ensure we continue providing the trusted service, expertise and support our customers rely on across the South West, while strengthening our position as the dealer of choice for agricultural, construction and groundcare machinery.
As work progresses, we will continue to share updates along the way. If you would like to find out more about the project, you can revisit our original announcement here.
For support or enquiries, please contact your usual Vincents representative or our Holsworthy branch.
Thank you for your continued support. We look forward to keeping you updated as the Cullompton project progresses.
