The Vincent Tractors team had an exceptional Royal Cornwall Show in more ways than one. Not only did they win The Royal Cornwall Show’s prestigious Silver Medal Award in the machinery category; but they also struck out in a very new direction, working with Farmers Skin (a product which is brand new to the UK) to help raise awareness of Skin Cancer and associated risks for agricultural workers in the UK.
Owner and Managing Director Paul Vincent commented “The Royal Cornwall Show is always a fantastic event and we have enjoyed attending for nearly 50 years. It’s always fantastic to be recognised for the efforts we go to in displaying the amazing equipment we stock and we have a lot of it!” The Vincent Tractors team is celebrated in the agricultural community for being experts and innovators and this year their story took an unexpected turn.
Skin cancer is the fifth most common cancer in the UK, with diagnosis rates rising faster than any other cancer in UK men. People, like Farmers, who work outdoors are at even greater risk of developing the disease. For this reason Vincent Tractors sourced a new brand of Sun Screen – the UK Farmers Skin – to trial at the Royal Cornwall Show and offer a test free of charge to their customers. Matthew Hodge, Vincent Tractors Marketing Manager, explained, “It’s very easy to overlook your health as simply part of your job; but as we all know, Farming is a vocation not a job! Almost every farming family lives and breathes farming 24/7. With enormously long days, literally dawn until dusk and longer in the summer, having the right gear is vital and this extends beyond tractors and machinery. If you look after yourself properly then you know you are able to continue the work that supports your livelihood. That’s the main reason we took a look at Farmers Skin for the Royal Cornwall Show ” Matthew explained that it’s normal for farmers to put their work first but forget about their own health. Having sunscreen that is purposely designed for a particular job helps to make the purchasing decision easier and the health benefits clearer.
Paul Vincent and his team were thrilled with the turn out at this year’s Royal Cornwall Show, with record numbers and amazing weather it was a great opportunity to show case Farming equipment, both the traditional and the more unconventional!
Vincent Tractors is looking forward to travelling to the other popular agricultural shows throughout the summer, where they will be showcasing machinery and sun protection – a potent combination!
